Calling all students! TEDx ETSU is around the corner and ready for students to apply. The third TEDx ETSU is scheduled to be on April 8, 2024.

“We want this to be a platform for students who have been researching for years or have a thesis paper, this is the perfect way to get that message out there to a broader audience,” stated Co-Curator of TEDxETSU, Ethan Walker.

Walker, a senior at ETSU, and Macy Strader, a sophomore at ETSU, have been working hard to ensure TEDx ETSU will be a great platform for students to voice their passions and dreams. The theme for the 2024 TEDx is possibilities, exploring the different possibilities that students can seek out.

The applications are open and due Nov. 17. The applications can be found on TEDx ETSU via Instagram, which will feature three questions for students to submit. The application process consists of two rounds, where students will be narrowed down to the final select few.

“We don’t want to deter anyone who hasn’t done public speaking. We want this to be accessible to the people if they have been on a stage or not,” states Walker.

With a few challenges faced and obstacles in the way, Walker and Strader are on the road to a successful TEDxETSU. Walker says that a goal is to improve and increase the capacity of the TEDx as the years continue, along with inspiring students to go on and do great things.

TEDx ETSU is open to anyone and everyone. From public speaking to musical acts, the possibilities are endless. Save the date for April 8, 2024, and be sure to apply and sign up so you can discover the possibilities.

“We’re moving towards TEDx establishing itself as a good starting point for a career. I think through the process of writing and performing a speech, a lot of students can gain the agency to envision what they want in the future and go after it,” said Walker.
