On Feb. 23, ETSU-Con held a tabling event to promote volunteer opportunities and provide information regarding the convention occurring March 23 through 24.
Among the various categories of information, ETSU-Con announced the most vital detail of the upcoming convention. Attendees can expect to see four voice actors: Tara Sands, William Salyers, Ryan Colt Levy and newly announced, Mara Junot. These actors feature their talents in various medias, ranging from cartoons and anime to video game characters.
“We’ve gotten a very positive reaction from the announcements on our social medias so far, so it’s been a lot of fun seeing how excited people are with that,” said Sami Morris, ETSU-Con chair.
The weekend long convention will be held in the D.P. Culp Student Center, open to students and the community alike to indulge in the fandom behind comics, anime, cosplay and so much more. ETSU students will receive a free weekend pass with their student ID on the day of registration, and non-students will receive a discount for a $25 weekend pass.
ETSU-Con is funded by the Student Government Association and is in partnership with student organization, PartyBucs, nonprofit tourism organizations, Visit Johnson City and Northeast Tennessee, as well as ETSU’s admissions office. PartyBucs will be hosting an after party, featuring an 18+ panel, providing one of many recruitment opportunities for the admissions office. Guests will also find ETSU Esports’ second annual Tri-Cities Slam Tournament, food trucks and an easter egg hunt at the convention.
To add to the excitement, guests will have the opportunity for free autographs from the voice actors. Three of the four actors will sign a personal notebook, the ETSU-Con booklet or the attendee badge. These items follow strict criteria, and the criteria must be followed to allow the occurrence of opportunities like this.
