ETSU volleyball was completely victorious over the Homecoming weekend, defeating two Southern Conference teams in Brooks Gym.
The Lady Bucs shutout The Citadel Bulldogs Friday evening, 3-0, and the following day defeated the College of Charleston Cougars by the same margin.
In the games against The Citadel junior setter Carey Cavanaugh had an outstanding game for the Bucs with 26 assists, six kills and five digs.
Junior outside hitter Amber Ciskowski had nine kills, while freshman outside hitter Gretchen Rupert led the Bucs in digs with seven.
Rupert added another five kills to ensure an ETSU victory.
As a team the Bucs had 39 kills against just one hitting error, out-hitting The Citadel .279 to -.080.
The Buccaneers won the first game, 15-1, with help from freshman outside hitter Rachel Shifflet, who tallied three service aces.
In the first game, Ciskowski and senior outside hitter Courtney Sussillo shared four kills apiece to bolster the Buc offense.
The Bulldogs had a 7-2 lead to start out the second game, but the Bucs took the next 10 points and went on to win the game 15-9.
ETSU won the final game 15-4 taking eight of the first 11 points.
The Citadel was led by outside hitter Nicole Mantu with five kills. Mantu finished tied for the The Citadel team lead with six digs.
Freshman setter Desiree Browning had nine assists for the Bulldogs.
With the loss the Bulldogs fell to 3-24 overall and 0-16 in the SoCon.
The Bucs improved their record to 14-10 overall and 10-6 in the SoCon.
On Saturday, the Bucs met the College of Charleston Cougars at high noon in Brooks Gym.
The Bucs took the win in straight sets, finishing the match 16-14, 15-12 and 15-13.
Ciskowski and senior Kellie Wallace shared 12 kills.
Shifflet joined Ciskowski and Wallace in double-digit kills with 10.
Shifflet added 20 digs to assist the Buc defense.
Cavanaugh had 39 assists to boost the Buc offense.
Jena Policastro led the Buc defense with 20 digs.
The College of Charleston was led by Heather Bingham with 22 kills and 11 digs.
Mary Sabatino had 36 assists for the Cougars.
The Cougars fall to 13-12 overall and 7-9 in the SoCon.
The Bucs improve to 15-10 overall and 11-6 in the SoCon.
The Buccaneers travel to Boone, N.C., to battle the Appalachian State Mountaineers at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
