The Well, a christian organization, will be sponsoring a mission fair at University Parkway Baptist Church on Dec. 6.
The purpose of the fair is to promote mission opportunities for college students.
Well employee Debbie McNeill believes college students are being called out to do mission art work.
“God has laid this on my heart to allow students mission opportunities,” she said. “God is very actively pursuing this generation into missions.”
The fair will take place starting at 8 p.m. in the church gymnasium before The Well worship service, which is an interdenominational worship service for college students.
Following the worship service, the students will be invited back to the gymnasium and talk with each visiting representative.
Representatives from international, North American, Tennessee and local organizations will be represented.
ETSU’s Baptist Student Union and Campus Crusade for Christ will be in attendance.
Other groups that will have booths set up are the International Mission Board, the North American Mission Board, Doe River Gorge in Hampton, Tenn., Homebuilders, Lifeway (Nashville), Camp Bayoka, Buffalo Mountain Methodists, Ridgecrest Baptist Assembly, the Tennessee Baptist Association and JARRS.
Every organization is open to all college students, including the ones affiliated with denominations.
“You don’t have to be from that denomination to take part in that organization’s ministry,” McNeill said.
McNeill also emphasized that students did not have to go out of the country to find a mission opportunity.
“Missions have to begin at home,” she said. “We need to be willing to go across the street before the Lord will send us across the ocean.”
McNeill, an ETSU parent, expects this generation to become active in mission work.
“I think if the need is presented correctly, this generation will pour it all out,” she said.
“This generation has been labeled as non-committal.
“If they are, it’s because the generations before have given them nothing to be committed about.
