Dimeco Childress sank a three-pointer with 13 seconds left, then blocked a last-second shot by Morehead State’s Ricky Minard to give the Bucs the 71-70 victory over the Eagles on Saturday.
Ryan Lawson had a career performance, scoring 20 points and adding six assists to ensure an ETSU win.
The sophomore guard dominated the second half scoring eight straight points when the Bucs trailed by nine.
Overall, the Bucs shot better in this game, connecting on 54.2 percent of their shots and were 10-for-20 from three-point range. Morehead State shot 43.1 percent from the field.
After receiving clearance from the NCAA, freshman Jerald Fields had an impressive first game.
Fields finished with 10 points and five rebounds for the Bucs.
Childress, Fields and Lawson combined to score the final 30 points of the game.
Freshman Ricky Minard led the Eagles with 25 points and nine rebounds.
The Bucs take on Warren Wilson College at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Mini-Dome.
