The ETSU women’s basketball team fell to Georgia Southern 87-66 in Statesboro last Saturday by the guiding hand of Lady Eagles’ Sharon Mitchell, who scored a game-high 16 points.
The win would improve the Lady Eagles to 9-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while ETSU falls to 1-12 overall and 1-3 in the league.
The Lady Bucs were paced by Chris Forman’s 15-point effort, while Misty Copas added 11 in the losing effort.
In the first half, Georgia Southern was hitting 50 percent from the field while capturing 100 percent of their free throws on 12 attempts.
The Lady Bucs would only hit 25 percent of the free throws and shoot 53 percent from the field.
The Lady Eagles’ advantage never extended past eight throughout the first half, with the Lady Bucs taking leads of its own midway through the period.
But a six-point halftime lead was increased to 11, 55-44, at the 12:41 mark when Sarah Davis canned a three-pointer, and the Eagles maintained their double-digit lead for most of the contest.
However in the second half, they would only hit 23 percent of their shots and advance to 80 percent of the free throw advantages.

Chris Forman had 15 points total with one assist, four turnovers and one steal.
Misty Copas had 11 points with one assist, three turnovers and one steal.
Erin Thurman shot for eight points with two assists and three steals.
Joi Anderson also had three steals.
