After dropping the season opener, 8-7, the Bucs baseball team lost 14-7 to Coastal Carolina on Saturday.
Coastal scored on in the first, one in the second and four in the third to take a 6-0 lead.
The Bucs got on the board with three runs in the top of the fourth.
After Kirk Keithley singled and Matt Nunley drew a walk, junior catcher Scott Rose blasted his first ETSU home run.
The Chants scored two in the fifth and three more in the sixth to open a commanding 11-3 lead after six innings.
In the seventh, ETSU senior Andy Baxter belted his second home run of the weekend. Coastal Carolina scored three in the home half of the inning before the Bucs countered with three in the eighth.
ETSU’s Brandon Cross plated two runs on a single to center field that closed the scoring.
Freshman Tim Turner was saddled with the loss. All five of the ETSU pitchers allowed at least two runs.
Sunday’s series finale was rained out.
The Bucs return to action this weekend with a three-game set at Troy State.
