So what happens when art school meets cabaret: Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School.
Local downtown bar, The Hideaway, is hosting the atypical life drawing workshop on Monday, Sept. 10 from 9 p.m.-midnight.
Artist Molly Crabapple started the event in Brooklyn in 2005, and now there are branches in 25 other cities.
Essentially, the concept for the drawing program is to turn a traditional art class on its head.
For three hours a pin up inspired model poses, while participants engage in competitions like, best left-handed drawing. In the case for our local event, the best drawing receives a $50 cash prize.
The host of this event is MC Kitten DeClaude, with live music by Bannon’s Medium. Absolution Suicide, featured on Suicide Girls Web site, is the model for the night.
This event is for the 18 and over crowd and the entry fee is $5. For more information, check out www.myspace.com/drsketchysjohnsoncity The Hideaway is located on 235 E. Main St. in downtown Johnson City.
