The ETSU track and field team opens up its 2010 outdoor season this weekend when the Buccaneers travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C. to compete in the Coastal Carolina Shamrock Invitational. The three-day meet kicks off on Thursday morning inside Doug Shaw Stadium when Jordan Briggs, Les Gilbert, Max Lee and Matt Hill participate in the decathlon – beginning with the 100m at 11:30 a.m.

On Friday the multis conclude with the 1500m; while the rest of the Buccaneer team will arrive to compete in their respective events.

ETSU is sending 35 total athletes to the meet this weekend to compete in 18 different event areas.

Highlighting the Bucs this weekend include senior Duronal Monal, Mike James, Kenneth Rotich, Ben Ronoh, Nic Chernikow and Ryan Beaver.

Monal and James will both compete in the 100m, 200m, while James will also see action in the 110mH.

Rotich and Ronoh are expected to race the 5000m and Rotich is scheduled to run in the 1500m as well.

Beaver will compete in both the long and triple jump; while Chernikow is slated for the long jump and javelin.

On the women’s side, Jasmine Ingram will compete in the 400m and 800m; while Zachlynn Blackburn is penciled to throw in both the shot and discus.
