After compiling three A-Sun Newcomer of the Week awards this season, freshman standout Destiny Mitchell has now been named Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.Mitchell, who helped guide the Lady Bucs to a perfect 3-0 mark last week, averaged 17 points, 11 rebounds, 5.3 steals and two assists in 30.3 minutes of work. The Bluffton, Ga., native also shot 54 percent from the field (20-of-37) and 85 percent from the free-throw line (11-for-13).

The guard/forward began the week by recording 18 points, nine rebounds and five steals in the 64-42 win over USC Upstate Wednesday night. Following the 22-point win over the Spartans, Mitchell recorded back-to-back double-doubles in victories over Kennesaw State and Mercer. Mitchell kicked off the weekend with 17 points, a career-high 13 rebounds, and five steals against the Owls, before wrapping play up with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and a career-best six steals in the 100-62 win over the Bears Monday evening.

The criminal justice major currently ranks third in the A-Sun in field goal percentage (50.2) and steals (2.3), fourth in rebounding (9.1), and seventh in scoring (14.8).
