Spring semester enrollment is up at East Tennessee State University.Preliminary numbers report that 14,183 students are enrolled for the 2011 spring semester, which began Jan. 13. This represents an increase of 384 students from the 2010 spring term. Last fall, ETSU surpassed the 15,000 mark for the first time in the institution’s history, with 15,234 men and women enrolled for the 2010 fall semester.
The 14,183 figure includes all undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students as well as 530 students and resident physicians from the James H. Quillen College of Medicine and 311 students at the Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy.
“As we commemorate our Centennial, we celebrate the 29 students who stepped onto this campus for the first time nearly 100 years ago. They had hopes and dreams, and today, more than 14,000 are on a similar journey toward a promising future,” said ETSU President Dr. Paul E. Stanton, Jr. “Surpassing enrollment benchmarks is always exciting news to announce. This is a truly wonderful campus, and we are honored to have these students be part of the ETSU family.
