Haven of Mercy is a thrift store that any college student would benefit from. It is very spacious and fairly clean, and it has many things you could use to furnish your apartment. It has a well priced inventory, so one could definitely buy a lot of things without spending too much money, which is something we should all appreciate since everything is so expensive these days.
Haven of Mercy offers a wide variety of clothing that is full of unique and rare garments. T-shirts are $1, as are blouses, and sweaters are $2. Jeans, shorts and skirts are $2 and dresses are $3. Also, if you are looking for a suit, they have women’s and men’s suits for just $5, which just might be the cheapest yet.
For all of those nursing students who are trying to get by in the medical field and need some new scrubs that don’t cause you to spend all of your spending money for the week, they have some very nice scrubs for just $2 a piece. And if you need to add a new purse to that ensemble, you’re in luck – purses are just $2-5.
If any of you have younger siblings, prom season is coming up, and, seeing as how they’ll only be wearing that prom dress once in their lifetime what is the point in spending hundreds of dollars on one when you can get one for just $25?
One thing I noticed about Haven of Mercy was that they actually had some decent formal dresses, unlike some of the other thrift stores. You should try to keep an open mind and check those out!
The shoe selection at Haven of Mercy is pretty decent, too. They have mostly vintage shoes, but they’re in great condition and only cost $2. Unfortunately, the ventilation system in Haven of Mercy isn’t the best so it was a bit chilly in there, but not arctic. You just might wanna make sure you have a jacket on if you go on a cold day.
There is a dry-erase board at the front of the store with all of the prices on it, so if you go and you can’t figure out how much something is because it isn’t listed above the item, you can just run up to the front of the store and see.
If a lamp is what you need, definitely go here. They have some really cool lamps for $3 and $5. The smaller lamps cost $3, and the larger ones are $5. They also have luggage bags!
Small ones are $10 and larger ones are $15. Vintage luggage is always a lot of fun to buy because they are usually very cheap and still really reliable, and the fact that they look really cool does not hurt the appeal, either.
The music sold there is mostly under $2, and that’s music to everyone’s ears.
Haven of Mercy is located on 218 N. Broadway St. and is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and is closed on Sundays. Their phone number is (423) 929-1474.
