The Bucs have proven to be unstoppable at home as the women’s volleyball team had two straight wins at home to add to their seven game winning streak.

Volleyball hosted the Mercer University Bears on Friday and the Citadel Bulldogs on Saturday.

Against Mercer, Brianna Allmon (Flower Mound, Texas) led the team in kills. with 18. She has also held the title of SoCon Offensive Player of the Week for two straight weeks. Libero Hailey Aguiler (Oswego, Ill.) led the team in digs, recording 20 on the match. Mercer led ETSU in the beginning of every set, but the Bucs came back to end up winning the game 3-0.

Head Coach Lindsey Devine is proud of the set distribution that is finding the hitters at the right moments and creating good opportunities to score.

Devine also commented on the overall effort the girls are making for every single ball, whether it is a kill or a volley, and that is really starting to make the difference in games.

“We’re tough at home because we have a great crowd behind us,” Devine said. “The girls really value owning their court.”

With the win against Mercer, the Bucs recorded their 11th sweep of the season, and they looked to do it again the next day against the Citadel. They did so successfully and left Brooks Gym on Saturday with their 12th sweep of the season and an 8-2 conference record.

Allmon again led the Bucs in kills with 11, while teammate Kristen Favre (Plano, Texas) recorded 21 assists, attributing to the many opportunities the Bucs are creating to be successful in play.

“Everybody comes in with a new thing to work on and they’re so open-minded to growing in that,” said Devine regarding the girl’s effort in personal play.

The Bucs dominated in all three sets, winning 25-18, 25-12 and 25-16.

Devine recognizes they have multiple players that can put away multiple game points, and that has proven to be one of their greatest weapons.

“They’re creating a lot of vision,” Devine said. “We’re able to spread our offense so there is not a lot of pressure on one particular player.”

The Bucs have no plans to slow down, and know that with these wins the rest of the season is going to be even more difficult with every other team wanting to take down who is on top.

Up next, ETSU will host Wofford on Friday where the team looks to continue their winning streak and undefeated play in Brooks Gym.
