A 22-year-old man was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated domestic assault at University Edge Apartments on March 29 after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, according to a Johnson City Police Department report.

At 6:05 a.m., police responded to a call at the Roadrunner Market on W. Walnut St. where the victim stated she and her boyfriend, Victor Gonzalez, were in an argument over possible infidelities when he choked her.

“The victim was able to leave the apartment and called police once she reached the store,” reads the report.

Investigating officers said the victim had visible injuries, which led to the arrest.

Gonzalez was later arrested at his apartment and transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he was held on $50,000 bond. According to the detention center, after his arraignment, Gonzalez posted bail and was released.

Due to privacy laws, the university was not able to confirm if Gonzalez is a student at ETSU.
