It’s just a jump to the left!
It’s that time of year again, folks. Fall is in the air, the leaves are falling, scary movies are on TV and “The Rocky Horror Show” returns to the Johnson City Community Theater!
Tickets for this ever-popular cult classic go on sale Monday Sept. 18 at 10 a.m.
“You can buy the tickets online or in the box office.” says Danielle Eaton, this year’s director of “The Rocky Horror Show.” “For the past two years the tickets have sold out pretty fast, within the first couple of days.”
“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” is a cult classic movie that came out in 1975. The movie tells the story of Brad Majors and Janet Weiss, a newly engaged couple who end up in a strange castle with a group of stranger people, consisting of Dr. Frank N. Furter, servants Riff Raff and Magenta, and of course, the famous Rocky himself. The show performed at the theatre will be the live musical version of the movie.
“Last year ticket sales were a little slow, but the first year we did the show it sold out within the first week,” Eaton said. “You will want to get your tickets fast this year because there will be less seating. One section of the seating is now a part of the stage.”
Eaton says that the musical is set up to be an interactive one. Audience members are encouraged to dress up as their favorite characters and participate along with the show. Prop bags and instructions will be for sale at concessions during the shows for audience participation.
If you are looking to enhance your viewing experience of “The Rocky Horror Show”, Eaton also said that there are four specialty tickets for sale.
“They’re called the ‘Rocky Royalty’ tickets. There are four interactive seats that are on the stage, and the only way you can get these tickets is if you call the box office. You also get cool goodie bags, a t-shirt and special parking if you purchase these tickets,” said Eaton.
“The Rocky Horror Show” will be performed Oct. 20-21 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 26-28 at 8 p.m. with a special showing on Oct. 28 at midnight and Oct. 31 at 8 p.m.
Regular tickets are $17 and the Rocky Royalty tickets are $50. They can be purchased online at jcct.info or through the box office at (423)926-2542. This is an adult show with adult themes.
