This week, dive into a huge host of Halloween activities that rans from spooky to just plain fun! These events take place on or close to campus. As we approach the last weekend before the holiday, get your costumes ready and come out to one of the many local Halloween activities!
October 23 ETSU Halloween Drag Show
All are invited to come and attend the ETSU Student Government Association’s 4th Annual Halloween Drag Show! This event is free and will be held on campus in the ballroom on the third floor of the Culp center on October 23 from 7 – 11 p.m. There will be free food and a costume contest and prizes for the winners.
October 24 Acapella Unplugged
On Tuesday Oct. 24, Acapella Unplugged will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Willow Tree Coffeehouse and Music Room on Main Street in downtown Johnson City. Performing groups include ETSU acapella singing groups: Greyscale, The Swashbucklers and ETSU’s all-female acapella group, Harmonium. The cover is $5. It’ll be aca-amazing!
October 26 Pumpkin Painting Competition
On Thursday at the ETSU Farmer’s Market, come shop your favorite vendors and compete in the pumpkin painting contest between your afternoon classes! This free event will take place form 10 a.m. to noon. Vote on your favorite pumpkin from noon to 1 p.m. and the winner will be announced at 1:30 p.m. This event is family friendly. Come compete and shop before the farmer’s market closes from the winter.
Oct. 26 BOOS Around the Fire Pit
Starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26 is the weekly event at JRH Brewing. This event is fun for the whole family. Sit outside in the crisp fall air by the fire and enjoy a locally brewed beer, some s’mores and a chilling tale by the fire. Storytellers are local and the atmosphere will leave you wanting more.
October 26 Students Trip to Fright Night
This year, ETSU student will have the opportunity to travel to the Fright Night at Ripley’s Haunted Adventure in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The trip will take place Friday, Oct. 27 and includes Fright Nights and Ripley’s Moving Theatre. Two tickets with travel to Gatlinburg is $15 and may be purchased at the SORC starting 9 a.m. Monday morning. Deadline for purchasing tickets is Oct. 26 at 4 p.m. as first-come, first-serve. Bus leaves Oct. 27 at 4:30 p.m.
October 28 Nightmare on Roan Street
The Dada Cabaret is back with yet another fun show. This performance on Oct. 28 titled, “Nightmare on Roan Street,” is a retelling of the story of East Tennessee during the Civil War, but with the usual fun and scary dada twist. There will be a costume contest with great prizes. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. on the third floor of holidays in downtown Johnson City. This event is $5.
