Coming off a home conference loss to UNCG, the men’s basketball team looked to rebound after a week off. They did just that with a 91-69 victory at Western Carolina.

Patrick Good (Johnson City, Tennessee) had a historic night for the Bucs connecting on 11 three-pointers – a school record.

The Bucs had won seven straight games dating back to Dec. 15 before the loss to the SoCon Champions.

“I think we need a little break, and we all need rest so it’s good,” said Jeromy Rodriguez (Santiago, Dominican Republic).

On Saturday, the first half against the Western Carolina Catamounts was all Bucs, jumping out to a fast 17-3 lead at the media timeout with under 16 minutes to play.

With five minutes remaining in the first half and leading by 11 points, the Bucs’ ability to score from the perimeter and inside really showed.

At the half, the Bucs led 45-31 putting on an efficient scoring half and a sufficient defensive half as well.

As a team, the Bucs only made one shot from outside without Good’s 11 makes.

In the second half the Bucs did not let up, continuing to play solid defense and scoring efficiently inside.

At the half, the Bucs led 45-31 putting on an efficient scoring half and a sufficient defensive half as well.

Mladen Armus (Belgrade, Serbia) joined Good in double figures totaling 21 points and adding 12 rebounds to cap off the night.

For the Bucs, free throw shooting continues to be a weakness at this point of the season as they only made 50 percent at the line.

Despite the struggles at the free throw line, the Bucs had no problem getting past the Catamounts, winning 91-69.

The win gave the Bucs their 17th win and a 7th conference win.

For Western Carolina, they suffered their 17th loss for the season.

Good was the Bucs’ high point man with 35 points.

The Bucs will be back in action on Jan. 31 as they travel to Samford for a much-needed conference win.
