The second annual health and wellness fair took place in the Mini-Dome Tuesday to bring awareness to students and staff about wellbeing.
The Be Well Bucs initiative for complete wellness involves 10 aspects: financial, intellectual, physical, spiritual, social, environmental, occupational, cultural, emotional and creative wellbeing. The health and wellness fair brought these to the ETSU community’s attention with the help of campus resources and local businesses.
“Its just a matter of opening our eyes,” ETSU Director of Special Projects Tisha Harrison said. “We have a lot of health areas here that, I think, a lot of people on campus really aren’t aware of.”
These services are available to students and staff who may have a variety of health needs.
ETSU Dining Services provided information on campus nutrition, with information on Sodexo’s dietician services for those with special dietary needs, vegetarian and vegan options and food allergy accommodations.
Campus Recreation shared their physical wellbeing services such as group fitness classes for yoga, dance, weightlifting, martial arts and cycling to name a few. The CPA also offers the opportunity to rent out camping and paddling equipment.
“How many of us take advantage of it?” Harrison said. “We all need the exercise.”
The Counseling Center educated on their mental health resources like BucPress2, a 24-hour help line for confidential crisis counseling. They provide personal counseling, psychiatric services, group therapy, and even Let’s Talk for casual support during difficult times.
These resources, and many more, exist to help students and staff in every aspect of their general wellbeing.
