After four showings since the start of the season on Sept.16, the Blue and Gold have wrapped up the fall season until they start back up in February.
Junior Tereza Melecka (Belcovice, Czech Republic) earned the spotlight for the women’s golf team this past season when she, along with four fellow Buccaneers, received an accolade for Athlete of the Month for October.
After a pair of top-25 finishes, she tied for 23rd at the Palmetto Intercollegiate. Then she earned co-medalist honors at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.
Meleka was named SoCon Golfer of the Week after she made a comeback in Las Vegas on the last day of her Las Vegas showing, where she tied for first place. This was her first win of the season and her first of her career.
While in Knoxville, Tennessee, the Bucs played shorthanded after senior Ankita Kelaya (Bangalore, India) was forced to withdraw after opening round play. The team as a whole scored 609 in two rounds and made it to 14th place. By the end of the weekend, ETSU made their way to 15th place with a score of 913.
At Wolcott, Colorado the women were led by junior Kornbongkoat Sararat (Nongkhai, Thailand) in the final round after a season best even par 72. The Blue and Gold took 17th place with a 925 score, their lowest from Wednesday with 301.
The tournaments at Kiawah Island, South Carolina, were again led by Melecka with her top-25 finish. She tallied 13 birdies over the 54 hole tournament in the span of three days. The team tied for 16th with a score of 907.
Finishing up in Boulder City, Nevada, Melecka made her mark on the fall season. The Bucs placed 12th with two players finishing in the top 25, after posting the fourth lowest round on Tuesday with 288.
The spring season is scheduled to begin in February of 2020 at the Reynolds Lake Oconee match in Lake Oconee, Georgia, where they will play the entire weekend starting on Feb. 21.
