Students have until March 1 to apply for general scholarships for next semester.

“There are 80 different scholarships,” said Kathy Feagins, Scholarship Office director. “There’s one application on our webpage, and we pull information out of Goldlink to help determine what scholarships they’re eligible for.”

Students can submit their application online through ETSU’s website under scholarships.

There are scholarships available in academic departments, with some majors having more available than others, said Feagins. She said students should consult with their major department about which scholarships they can apply for.

Scholarships also have financial need criteria, so students need to make sure they have their FAFSA filed by March 1 so any financial need is taken into consideration.

Other scholarships within the March 1 deadline include Midway, Fine and Performing Arts, Honors-in-Discipline and Presidential Honors Community Service.

The Midway Honors Scholars Program is a two-year program designed for high performing, undergraduate students who transfer to ETSU from community colleges or other universities. Students will work one-on-one with faculty on a research or creative project in their field of study.

The Bert C. Bach Fine & Performing Arts Scholars program is for artistically and academically talented undergraduate students. Talents could range from music and acting to painting, animating and creative writing, though the scholarship caters to many other types of artistic and creative style.

The Honors-in-Discipline programs are offered within a variety of majors at ETSU. With access to exceptional academic programs, distinctive opportunities, and academic recognition, the program has 84% of its scholars graduating from ETSU.

The Presidential Honors Community Service is for high-achieving students who enroll as freshmen at ETSU. This is for students who, regardless of major, have a passion for community service.

The scholarship office is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and students can drop in during these times if they have any questions or concerns regarding scholarships.
