In an email to ETSU students, faculty and staff Thursday, ETSU President Brian Noland announced changes to the fall 2020 semester calendar, which includes the completion of in-person classes before Thanksgiving break.

Fall classes will begin on Aug. 24. The university will hold classes on Labor Day, Sept. 7, and Veterans Day, Nov. 11. Fall Break will take place the week of Thanksgiving, Nov. 23-27, with the last day of in-person classes set for Nov. 20. Class instruction from Nov. 30 to Dec. 4, as well as final exams from Dec. 5-10, will take place remotely.

The Quillen College of Medicine schedule will remain the same. The Gatton College of Pharmacy will adjust their starting date, but they will start to follow the university schedule in September.

Commencement is scheduled to take place Dec. 12. More information on the format for that event will be provided at a later date.

“These changes are being made to safeguard the health of our students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors as we continue our mission to improve the quality of life of the people of this region through our work in teaching, research, and public service,” Noland said in the email.

According to the email, more updates regarding the fall 2020 semester will be announced in the upcoming days.
