Country music artist Brett Young will be putting on a live virtual concert and Q&A on Friday at 7 p.m.

The fall concert is sponsored by the ETSU Student Government Association, and it is free for all ETSU students, faculty and staff to attend via Zoom registration.

Early this semester, students voted for Morgan Wallen to perform for the fall concert; however, he was unable to perform.

“I started networking with some other schools to see who they had had recently, and Brett Young, his name came up twice,” said Carter Warden, director of ETSU Student Activities and Organizations. “And so, we checked on him and the date worked out and the timing worked out, and he had very favorable reviews from the other schools.”

Young will be performing an acoustic, stripped back concert that will last a minimum of 45 minutes with the possibility of going longer.

Following the concert will be a Q&A where Young will answer questions submitted by ETSU students. After the virtual session, members of SGA will have a private virtual meet and greet with Young. If a student submits a question, they will be placed in a random raffle drawing, and the winners will also join the private meet and greet.

If students want to meetup, there will be socially distanced viewing of the concert in the Cave in the D.P Culp Student Center. Students must register for the in-person meeting.

“If you want to watch it on your own, that’s fine, and you could have any of your family watch the show with you,” Warden said. “But if you’re looking for a little bit of interaction and maybe slightly more of a live concert feel, we’re going to offer, for up to a certain number, students to meet in the cave area in the Culp and watch it on that gigantic screen.”
