ETSU Student Activities and Organizations has many new things lined up for the upcoming spring semester.

The SORC has put on many events this semester, including the Five Night Music and Comedy Festival, virtual trivia nights and the virtual Brett Young concert.

While the COVID-19 pandemic moved many activities online this semester, they are hoping to have more in-person events for the spring semester.

“We’ve noticed a lot of students enjoy getting away from their computers and being back on campus and being in the new Culp,” said Haley Mullins, a staff programmer for the SORC. “So, students can expect a lot more events to be in person.”

The current spring schedule is still tentative and will be able to adapt should COVID-19 take different turn.

Precautions will be taken to ensure that students are safe during these events amidst the pandemic.

“We will be counting how many people are registered for the event, how many people are at the event and all of our staff will be there working and making sure that those guidelines are met and everyone’s taking the right precautions and being safe and wearing their masks, etc,” said Mullins.

While nothing is set in stone, students can expect newer and different events from what was done during the fall semester.

The SORC is open to co-sponsoring events with any organizations on campus that want to and are currently in discussion with a few clubs already.

“I really hope that students take advantage of the events and getting involved, even though things are virtual,” said Mullins. “I think it’s extremely important to get involved on campus in any way you can just because you have that family, you have those people around you, even if it is virtual for a little while, to support you and you’re not alone in this.”

For those looking to get involved before next semester, there a couple virtual trivia nights left this semester.
