The ETSU community received an alert Friday at 9:21 a.m. instructing people on campus to shelter in place due to the possibility of an “armed and dangerous” person on ground.
The shelter in place was lifted in a second alert at 10:34 a.m.

WJHL also reports that the Johnson City Police Department does not believe he is armed.
The alert said he is a white, 5-foot-8-inch tall, 150-pound male with brown hair and blue eyes, and he wears glasses. ETSU community members who see a person matching the description have been instructed to contact public safety at 423-439-4480.
