The Johnson City Downtown Day Center will be getting some colorful and necessary changes this spring.
An $8,000 total budget will be provided for the new changes.
Jennifer Whitehead, director of the JCDDC says these changes are going to be the best the center has ever seen.
There are several projects that will be in the works with the $8,000 budget.
“One of the first things we will be getting is a new sign for outside, and the Rotary Club is buying a storage unit so we can put all of the extra clothes sent to us in there,” said Whitehead.
The JCDDC will receive many more renovations as well. The new renovations include a mural painting, a water filling station, a bike rack and new custom furniture made in the behavioral health center.
“We really didn’t have enough money to worry about the aesthetics as far as decorating,” said Whitehead. “So it can look very sterile, the mural will bring color to the center.”
The Johnson City Early Morning Rotary Club is comprised of volunteers, and the volunteers help with many things for the JCDDC.
“They will help with anything they can help with,” said Whitehead. “Doing the painting in the new behavioral health room, or anything in the center really.”
The new projects began in the works in December 2020. Whitehead is hoping that within the next month it will be completed.
“The mural is almost finished, the concrete pad has been poured at the side of the building, the storage unit has been ordered, we’ve gotten the quote for the water building station, and then we are going through ETSU to get our new sign,” said Whitehead.
The new advances coming to the JCDDC will be enjoyed by many, such as patrons or patients at the clinic.
