The Department of Sustainability’s club, the EcoNuts is hosting an art contest in honor of Earth Day.
The EcoNuts help promote sustainability and plan initiatives on campus. The art contest will be held during their annual Earth Week on April 22. All entries are due by April 16.
“This event had been talked about for a couple years, and we never really knew what to do with it,” said Madison Hayton, EcoNuts team leader. “Last year while I was helping with our annual Earth Week planning, I thought this would be a great opportunity to push an Earth Day Art Contest idea.”
The contest is seeking out art that centers around sustainability and celebrates Earth Day. It is still undecided whether the art will be shown in person, but the participants will all be showcased on the EcoNuts’ Instagram page, as well as in their weekly email, The Green Monthly Email. If the art is also displayed in person, it will be shown at the annual Earth Week.
“We reveal the winners on Monday, April 19, to kick of Earth Week, before setting up the full showcase on April 22,” Hayton said.
During Earth Week, the EcoNuts will be hosting various challenges and giveaways on their Instagram.
All forms of art are accepted, such as prints, paintings, digital media, sculpture, poems, or even music! Anyone who enters The EcoNut’s Art Contest will have the chance to win first, second, and third place prizes. The deadline is April 19, and you can enter submissions at gogreen@etsu.edu.
