“Even though we have not been able to welcome the public at the Martin Center for the Arts, our community and university’s long-time dreams are coming true,” said Clements.

Clements listed the collective set of goals for the Martin Center, which includes serving academics, serving the community and being self-sustaining.

“Our mission here at the center is to serve students and the academic faculty and the facilities and have this available for our students to have world class environment to learn in, to be able to perform and practice in,” said Clements. “That remains at the front and center for what we’re trying to do for the Martin Center.”

The new center features state-of-the-art rooms for students to practice and rehearse singing, dancing and playing instruments, as well as several stages for live entertainment such as music, plays, comedic shows and even live showings of films.

“So, I will tell you how exciting is to have students at this facility, and while we don’t have everyone here at this facility, we do have a lot of students this semester, and it’s very exciting to see them and to see their excitement around everything that’s happening here,” said Clements.

Clements said she hopes that the new Martin Center will bring together and connect the community as well as faculty and students through art, music and theater.
