On April 23, the ETSU choirs, including Chorale, the Belles, BucsWorth and Greyscale, presented their final concert of the 2020-2021 year.

The concert was an effort to show the public, as well as students and faculty, that the choir programs had not only survived but thrived through the COVID-19 pandemic. A variety of different music was showcased during the two-hour long concert, along with personal testimonies from students about their experiences over the last year navigating college through a pandemic.

“The choir concert was so amazing,” said ETSU student Crystal Royston. “It was so cool to see a live music event again, even though it was just online. I loved being able to see what other students had been working on all semester.”

The students in the choir were all socially distanced and wore masks throughout the performance. The video, due to COVID-19 restrictions, was online and livestreamed on YouTube. YouTube offered a live chat function in which viewers could chat in real time with others that were viewing the concert online. Since the concert video first went live, there have been over 800 views of the performance as of April 28. All comments and reviews were positive, with many being impressed by the talent that those in the choirs that performed.

“It was so cool to see the choir perform, and I did love that it was live streamed so I could go back and watch it again,” said ETSU student Brooke Presnell. “but I cannot wait until I can go and watch events like these in person again. It is awesome to see the effort that ETSU makes to keep things as close to normal as possible.”
