Students who have been fully vaccinated or plan to do so can fill out a voluntary online entry form and be entered in the ETSU Vaccine Challenge raffle.  Students who enter will have a chance of winning prizes such as $1,000 and $2,000 tuition scholarships, a designated parking spot on campus, ID Bucs, ETSU apparel and much more.

Student names entered in the Vaccine Challenge will be drawn weekly; the challenge begins on Aug. 20 and will end Oct. 8. ETSU faculty and staff will also be able to enter the challenge, and those who complete the online entry form will be entered into a drawing for six $2,500 awards from Sept. 3 through Oct. 1.

Dr. Mildred Perreault, a professor in the Department of Media and Communication who has been doing research on COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, said, “I think the challenge is a great opportunity to recognize the efforts of faculty, staff and students who have taken the step to reduce the impact of COVID-19 in our community.”

Perreault is working on two publications concerning the virus, and hopes that with the new FDA approval and science behind the vaccines, more will take the step of becoming vaccinated.

In addition to the prizes for students, faculty and staff, and student organizations on campus will also be able to take part in the challenge. Student organizations that reach 80% or more participation have a chance to win apparel for their organization, cash prizes or an ETSU pop-up tent.

Participation in the Vaccine Challenge is voluntary for all students and faculty, and any who have not been vaccinated but wish to be can do so at the next ETSU Health clinic on campus.
