ETSU Research Corporation appointed Dave Clark, Stephen Marshall, Raina Wiseman and William Heise to its growing team.
The ETSU Research Corporation came about because President Noland wanted to revive the ETSU Research Foundation, which has existed for over 18 years.
David Golden, who teaches MBA students in the College of Business & Technology, was appointed as CEO of the Corporation.
The Research Corporation is going to drive collaboration and experiential learning between on-campus and off-campus entities.
“If you want to light a fire, we’ve got matches. And if you want to shine a spotlight on some cool thing that’s going on, we’ll shine a spotlight. And so, when you think about how that gets done on a university campus, the Research Corporation helps cut through silos to do that, perhaps in a more effective way,” said Golden.
The Corporation will have many team members to help them accomplish this task: Dave Clark, vice president for entrepreneurial ecosystem development; Stephen Marshall, chief marketing officer; Raina Wiseman, director of operations and marketing; and William Heise, Research Corporation fellow.
Marshall and Wiseman will be helping to manage and market projects coming out of the Corporation.
“We’ve got some really exciting projects from world class things in a rural setting. And, you know, to our ability to partner with STEM leaders like BioBuilder and MATE and our ability to partner with groups like the Niswonger Foundation to do some amazing work in collaboration with Ballad,” said Marshall.
They will be launching a nonprofit program soon that will be focused on education and resources for both the classroom and parents regarding birth defects.
The Corporation will also be working with Audrey Depelteau, Innovation Lab director, and Liz Bennett, Innovation Lab assistant director.
“I think the cool thing about our Research Corporation team is that our core team is kind of small. But we have so many people within the community that are just avid supporters of ETSU, and they want to be a part of ETSU and we’re connecting them through the research Corporation,” said Wiseman.
The Corporation expects to announce one more appointment before the end of the semester.
