Lamb Hall, home of the College of Public Health and College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Sciences, is currently undergoing a massive renovation.
When construction is completed, students temporarily relocated for those classes will be able to return to a much more efficient and modern building. Until then, medical students are currently participating in laboratory classes at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center across from the main ETSU campus.
Students participating in these labs can take a shuttle bus, called the Bucshot, to and from campus for their classes. The shuttle is completely free for all students and faculty if they simply show their ETSU identification card, so those participating in these labs will have a much easier way to reach the VA.
However, there is a current driver shortage for the shuttles, and medical students who have their own form of transportation are encouraged to drive themselves. There is a parking area for ETSU students in the labs, and hopefully the issue will be resolved soon for those wanting to take the shuttle.
Professor of microbiology, Melissa Altura, addressed this shortage to prepare her students for what is ahead, because labs will begin this week.
Sophomore Alyssa Pendleton, majoring in nursing and taking part in labs at the VA, gave a statement regarding the Bucshot shuttle and what she hopes for as Lamb Hall continues renovation.
“I cannot wait to have labs back on campus to save time, but until then I am happy that the labs are in person, and I can attend them here with everyone else,” Pendleton said.
Pendleton also hopes to be able to take the shuttle to the VA on her lab days but is happy that she can also drive herself without any issues.
