On Wednesday, Sept. 1, ETSU students, faculty and staff gathered as our partner company, Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union, ceremonially dedicated the Cave’s main stage.
Cutting the ribbon was not only an accomplishment for the men and women who put in months of hard work, but it was also a great example of how the community supports ETSU students and the university and works to see the vision of the campus succeeding.
Everyone gathered in the Cave where the new stage stands in the D.P. Culp Center. The Cave has been a gathering spot for decades, but it is even more than that now. The Cave is known as the heart of the Culp, a special spot that holds many memories from past students and faculty and will continue to hold its importance to our student body.
“The Culp has been important to our students for decades, and the support of TVA makes the possibilities for more events to continue being held here for many years to come,” said Joe Sherlin, Vice President for Student Life and Enrollment.
Throughout his speech, Sherlin explained how grateful ETSU is to have the opportunity to partner up with TVA. TVA has been on board since the beginning and always supported the ideas of the new renovations.
As for everyone who put in the work to make sure the vision became a reality, Sherlin wanted to express his gratitude for giving the students and faculty a new and renovated space in which to be welcomed.
“The beginning of this semester has been so full of life and activity. This event is another way of showing a good start of our school year,” Sherlin said.
