Leann Horsley was recently appointed as the new dean for the ETSU College of Nursing, and she is ready to run the program in an effective manner.
Horsley is originally from Oklahoma and has since moved around to eight different states in the last 30 years.
“I firmly believe that no matter where you live there is no perfect place,” said Horsley. “I have been able to learn and grow from each place I have lived in.”
This is not Horsley’s first time living in the state of Tennessee; she has lived in Memphis as well.
“I actually lived in the west side of Tennessee in Memphis for a couple years,” Horsley said. “I am thrilled to be back in Tennessee.”
Horsley explains why she chose ETSU and how she appreciates the program itself.
“Specifically with the College of Nursing, it was their amazing academic excellence. Forethought in nurse-led clinics dated back as early into the 1990s,” said Horsley. “That was very impressive to me.”
She says that many goals will be reached with her as the new dean of nursing, which includes sticking to tradition set by past leaders of the program.
“One of the most important goals for the College of Nursing is to build off past successes, so to collaborate with other faculty, staff and other individuals inside of the college, to expand research, scholarship, service within community,” Horsely said. “Our offerings for clinical simulation with undergraduate students is very important.”
Horsley is thrilled to be at ETSU doing what she loves, and elaborates on the importance of the College of Nursing.
“I really believe that the College of Nursing at ETSU is vital to our community,” mentioned Horsley. “It is because our graduates go and directly impact individuals across the lifespan in our nation.”
The College of Nursing is excited to have Horsley, and she is ecstatic to get to work.
