Navigate to ETSU will begin its regional fall tour on Sept. 20, 2021.
“Navigate to ETSU is very much informational,” said Robert Meier, interim assistant director of admissions and event planner for Navigate to ETSU. “It’s introducing ETSU to these students.”
Navigate to ETSU is a recruiting campaign, and it is the fall event in a cycle of welcoming events to the campus, with New Buc Kickoff happening in the spring and orientation being held in the summer.
“We are sharing financial aid information, regional information, academic program information,” said Meier. “We share the region, the life of Johnson City, our student life here on campus.”
The program will visit Chattanooga, Nashville, Knoxville, Asheville, Spartanburg and Wise this semester.
“We have an underrepresented, first-generation, and under-resourced session,” Meier said. “Carshonda Martin is going to join us here for this first event.”
Martin, who is the Director of the Mary V. Jordan Multicultural Center, will be speaking about the Multicultural Center and other resources for underrepresented, first-generation and under-resourced students. This session will be followed by the main session of Navigate to ETSU.
“We welcome everybody, we feed everybody,” said Meier.
The main session features speakers from university leadership and information from student service staff and current students.
Meier describes the welcoming events from Admissions as welcoming someone into your home.
“Navigate to ETSU is our introduction,” Meier said. “That’s the foyer, for me. The New Buc Kickoff, that’s the living room. That’s where we get to celebrate that you’ve been admitted. Summer orientation, and especially preview, that’s the kitchen,” he continued. “This is home. This is where I’m supposed to be. You really get to know people through that.”
