The ETSU women’s soccer team fell to Samford University 2-0 on Sunday, Oct. 17. Prior to this game, the Bucs lost to Chattanooga on Friday, Oct. 15.

The current overall record for the Buccaneers is 5-5-3, and 2-4-1 in the Southern Conference.  

Samford is currently undefeated with a record of 8-0 for conference play and an overall record of 11-3-2.  

Samford came away with the first goal after Taylor Yount (Cape Coral, Fla.) shot the ball into the bottom right corner of the net. The first point goal came at the 21-minute mark of the first half.  

Samford came out strong with 10 shots and ETSU with six in the first half.  

In the second half, the numbers turned a little bit with ETSU shooting five and Samford three. 

ETSU came out in the second half with plans to play strong and attack. Junior Katie Philips (Tega Cay, South Carolina), freshman Nele Bauer (Bammental, Germany) and sophomore Sinoxolo Cesane (Capetown, South Africa) shot three of the five attempts within the first 10 minutes of the second half. 

Samford finished the game with nine corner kicks, leaving ETSU with three of them.  

Having completed the last home game in Summers-Tayor Stadium of the regular season, the Bucs head to UNCG on Friday, Oct. 22.
