Whether you are in a relationship or in a committed situation-ship with Ben and Jerry, romance movies hold a special place in all of our hearts.

There seems to be a formula when it comes to these types of movies: Single girl meets single guy at work or some public gathering, montage of their seemingly perfect life, guy messes up and they separate, sad montage with a Rhianna song, guy makes it up to her by doing one single passionate thing, they get married, end of movie. Now, not every romantic movie is made equal. There are some real stinkers out there. Here are two romance movies you should watch this Valentine’s Day and one that you should definitely skip.

WATCH: “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”

This is the perfect rom-com for any girl’s night in (Somebody bring the brownie batter!) The story follows Andie (Kate Hudson) and Ben (Matthew McConaughey) who have placed bets on each other. Andie has to get a man to leave her in 10 days. Sounds easy. Ben, on the other hand, has to get a woman to fall in love with him in the same amount of time. This movie does a great job at creating a funny and comforting atmosphere. It’s a great feel-good movie, especially if you are feeling down.

“How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” is available for streaming on Peacock, or you can rent it on Amazon Prime.

WATCH: “Pride and Prejudice” (Joe Wright, 2005)

If you love period pieces and forbidden romance, this is the movie for you. Starring Keira Knightly and Matthew Macfadyen, the story follows Elizabeth, a girl who has come of age in the Victorian Era, being coerced to find true-love against her moral principles to Mr. Darcy, a wealthy and seemingly arrogant bachelor. To me, this movie has basically no plot, but it does a great job at retaining historical accuracy while also having some truly beautiful moments. If you don’t find yourself rooting for these two by the end of the movie, seek therapy.

You can watch “Pride and Prejudice” on HBO Max or Hulu.

SKIP: “The Kissing Booth” 1-3

Shew. What a drawn-out, stupid and somewhat embarrassing sequence of movies. We now know where Jacob Elordi got all of his pent-up rage for his character Nate in “Euphoria”.

Elle (Joey King) and Lee (Joel Courtney) are best friends. Lee has an older brother named Noah (Jacob Elordi). Elle and Noah aren’t allowed to date because of a made-up best friend’s rule guide, but they do anyway. Lee catches them, but they all forgive and forget.

That is the plot of all three movies. Listen, I understand if you just want to watch something mindless, but Paw Patrol may have more emotional maturity.

Valentine’s Day is such a lovely time of year, and you don’t have to be in a relationship to enjoy it. Take a moment to realize the beauty of love, maybe while eating an entire family-sized package of Oreos.
