Since its grand opening on Jan. 28, Crumbl Cookies has become a Johnson City sensation that attracts crowds from every corner of the city.

Whether it’s the modern and creative take on the old-fashioned sugar cookie recipe or the iconic pink box that leaves a line stretching down the storefronts, Crumbl has broken records with its new location and plans to expand its horizons in the Tri-Cities area.

Located on North Roan Street, the menu features a weekly rotation of flavors that captivate customers with its creativity and variety. Crumbl in Johnson City is one of only six locations in Tennessee and allows customers to order through pickup, takeout or delivery.

Crumbl’s press attention since its grand opening in 2017 has made it the fastest-growing cookie company in the nation, ranking second overall in cookie sales in the U.S. In Johnson City alone, the bakery has seen record sales and sold over 800 cookies on its opening.

The soaring success was anticipated, but for ETSU students in particular, Crumbl is a trend that many individuals take to regularly keep in time with.

“The size of the cookies are incredible,” said ETSU undergraduate student Anna Humphrey. “I love the constant variety, and though the price is steep, treating myself to a box and experimenting with the best flavors is super rewarding.”

For store manager and owner Autumn Baker and husband John Baker, the Johnson City location is just the beginning for the overall success of Crumbl in the Tri-Cities area. The store has also offered a large source of employment for the area in particular, employing multiple full-time and part-time students in just two short months since its soft opening.

“We anticipated lots of publicity, but we had no idea it would blow up to the degree it did,” said Baker. “It’s such a huge blessing, and the support of the community has been more than we could have ever asked for. We love Johnson City, and we’re so excited to see where this takes us next.”
