On Feb. 22, Pepper celebrated her fourth birthday, complete with a fun party outside of Starbucks in the Culp. Celebrating her birthday and her second anniversary at ETSU, she was more than overjoyed by all the attention.

At the event, people brought presents, and there was even a surprise visit from her previous handler, Officer Bill Mitchell. There was cake, for canines and for college students, which everyone enjoyed, and everyone got to give their best head pats to Pepper.

She certainly liked the squirrel that someone gave her, and so did everyone else, watching as she nibbled on it at first before Officer Mitchell attached it to her harness.

In an interview with Joe Smith, ETSU’s Deputy Chief Mark Tipton, the man behind Pepper’s placement said, “Everyone loves Pepper, especially the students. She makes you smile no matter what kind of day you are having.”

And he’s right, because we couldn’t be happier to have her around campus, and her furry friends around campus love her as well! Here’s to hoping that she enjoys her next birthday with all of ETSU!
