KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (March 1, 2022) – ETSU Baseball kicked off a five-game road stretch when the (5-1) Bucs traveled to take on undefeated No. 6 ranked Tennessee (7-0) on Tuesday. The Bucs were looking to get their first win vs Tennessee since March 2019, but the Vols were able to hold the Bucs to only five hits and one score in the 4-1 victory.

The Bucs had a hard time all night getting to the base. It wasn’t until the fifth inning when the Bucs were able to bring a runner, David Beam (Knoxville, Tenn.), home off an RBI by Garett Wallace (Sanford, Fla.), his 10th RBI of the season, to make the score 2-1.

The Vols answered the Bucs score in the following two innings to go up 4-1 by the eighth. This was Tennessee’s third straight win against the Bucs, making the all-time record between the in-state rivals (69-20) in favor of the Vols.

Only a minor setback for an exciting Bucs squad, they have put up double digits in all five victories thus far and look to get back on track when they visit Winthrop (Rock Hill, S.C.), March 4-6, for a three-game series before taking on Clemson, March 8, to close out their road trip.
