ETSU’s softball team took on Presbyterian College in back to back games on March 1, in Clinton, South Carolina. 

The Bucs lost the first game 5-0 after The Blue Hose came out strong in the first inning with two runs and two more in the third. Earning the last run of the first game in the sixth inning. 

The Buccaneers then played game two the same day but fought back against their loss in game one.  

Starting the game off slower, the first run was made by Presbyterian College’s Morgan Hess (South Riding, Virginia).  

The Bucs got their first run in the fourth inning, when sophomore Bailey Turnbow (Cookeville, Tennessee) hit an RBI double to left field. 

The game remained tied 1-1 until the sixth inning when ETSU pulled ahead. Freshman Cameron Young (Knoxville, Tennessee) hit an RBI single, allowing senior Andrea Sarhartt (Knoxville, Tennessee) to run home from second base. Another run made for the Bucs in the sixth inning was when Turnbow hit her second RBI double of the game.  

Going into the bottom of the sixth inning, ETSU was ahead 3-1, but The Blue Hose came back strong and got three runs. After the top of the seventh inning with no run home from the Bucs, the game was over 3-4 with a Presbyterian win. 

The Bucs came off a long weekend of losses, playing two games on Feb. 25 and two games on Feb. 26 in Georgia at the I-75 Tournament.  On Friday, the Bucs fell to Kennesaw State, 8-0 and Georgia State, 6-2. On Saturday, Georgia Tech won two from the Bucs, 10-0 and 13-1.

Coming back home on a six game loss streak, the Bucs are returning to Betty Basler Field for a triple-header against Tennessee Tech with two games on Saturday, March 5, at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and one game on Sunday, March 6, at 1 p.m.
