On March 8th, the East Tennessee State University National Alumni Association hosted the 2022 Graduation Celebration. The event took place in the DP Culp Ballroom, where many different organizations and businesses set up tables with information that would be helpful to graduating seniors.

“My favorite part of the event is the opportunity that they’re giving us to celebrate our accomplishments.” said Madison Ross, a senior at ETSU. “ETSU has not only prepared us in academics, but now they’re giving us these next step learning opportunities by having all of these vendors and people to talk to that make students feel more at ease about going out into the world. This event made me and my friends feel appreciated and like our hard work has been seen.”

The Graduation Celebration featured vendors from places such as the Veterans’ Affairs Association, Ballad Health, University Career Services, Knoxville Credit Union, and ETSU Online. MAC Cosmetics offered free color testings, so that students could get their makeup done before having their graduation portraits taken.

A table titled “Thank A Professor” allowed students to write heartfelt cards and notes that will be delivered to members of the faculty and staff in May. Men’s Warehouse provided free business wear fittings, a chiropractor offered free massages, and there was even a station where students could decorate their graduation cap.

Additionally, there were also informational sessions led by Heidi Dulebohn on dining etiquette, Eastman Credit Union on finances, and Regions Bank on interview tips.

“In a way, the event made me feel emotional because I will be leaving such a supportive community.” said Ross. “I know I’ll be back one day, but at no other stage in my life will I be surrounded with peers and faculty members that care for me and my success like the ones at this college do.”

2022 Commencement is scheduled for two ceremonies May 7, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Additional information and instructions are available at etsu.edu/commencement/.
