With the fall semester approaching quickly, here are a few tips for new and returning students that are sure to make the first week back on campus as smooth and stress-free as possible.
For students who may be driving to school, Mariah Rasnake from Parking Services has advice for how to avoid busy parking areas on campus.
“Usually, the interior parking areas on campus will fill up the fastest. The best bet to find quick parking on the first week is to go to Lot 22, Lot 9 or one of the parking garages,” said Rasnake.
Students can also use the parking map in the ETSU mobile app in order to see how many spaces are available in lots located across campus.
When it is time to grab a bite to eat for lunch, Alex Snapp from Dining Services says that the busiest time for food services across campus is from 12:30- 1:30 p.m.
“If you want to miss the crowds,” Snapp said, “try taking an early or late lunch for a quick dining experience.”
Also, for students wanting to grab a quick breakfast in the morning, Treehouse Takeout will be adding new sandwiches and wraps to their breakfast menu to make it more convenient for students looking for a quick meal on the go.
For many students, finding a way to relax after classes can be a difficult task. After all, it’s easy to get overwhelmed as a college student.
Christina Morton, a nurse practitioner from ETSU’s University Health Center, has a suggestion for students who are looking for activities to help them de-stress.
“General exercise is very important for both physical and mental health,” Morton said. “Students are encouraged to utilize the Center for Physical Activity on campus, which offers free group fitness classes in yoga and cardio.”
Daily exercise at the CPA is not only a great way to relax and rejuvenate after a long day of school, but Morton also adds that, “it’s a great way to meet new people,” for incoming freshmen and new students looking to socialize on campus.
With the first day of classes less than a week away, hopefully these tips will help you navigate your first days of the new semester and be sure to remember the most important back to school advice, “Godspeed and Go Bucs!”
