ETSU concluded its Welcome Week for students with a bang at the Campus Roundup event, which was hosted by Student Activities and Organizations and took place on Friday, Aug. 26.

Campus Roundup is an annual event with a western theme that allows campus offices, academic departments and student organizations to meet and socialize with the student body.

Due to the weather, the event was moved inside the Culp Center. But that did not stop students from sporting their cowboy hats and boots, enjoying the various activities and booths and even riding the mechanical bull.

Carter Warden, the director of Student Activities and Organizations says Campus Roundup is always a hit with the students.

“We provide free food and drinks, fun activities, and drawings for prizes such as a free television, tablets, earbuds, Rokus and more,” said Warden.

Campus Roundup is only one of the events for students that took place during the first week of classes. Gabrielle Walker, a student at ETSU,  said she had gone to various events throughout the week and enjoyed getting to know the campus more as she explored.

“They give out free items and tell you information about the campus that you wouldn’t normally know. It’s been a great help,” said Walker.

With the fall semester just getting underway, there will be many more events to come in the future and opportunities for students to get more involved on campus.

“Students should take the time to check out all 250 organizations on campus by visiting the Buc-Hub at www.etsu.edu/buc-hub for a listing of all campus organizations. Try new things, attend organizations’ events and meetings, and get involved,” Warden said.
