ETSU women’s golf released their schedule for the 2022-23 season in mid-August and is set for a competitive year.

“This year we have really big opportunities in our schedule. Because of our play over the last couple of seasons, we’ve been invited to play in a couple of the strongest fields in college golf,” said head coach Stefanie Shelton.

The team will start the fall season at the Golfweek Fall Challenge in Pawley’s Island, South Carolina from Monday, Sept. 12 through Tuesday, Sept. 13.

Following that, the team heads to Vail, Colorado for Golfweek Red Sky Challenge taking place on Monday, Sept. 26 through Wednesday, Sept. 28.

The third tournament of the fall season the team will travel to Medinah, Illinois to compete in the Illini at Medinah on Monday, Oct. 10, and Tuesday, Oct. 11.

“It’s one of the toughest fields we will ever have faced in our program. I’m really looking forward to putting our team on the field,” Shelton said. “It’s a dream to be able to build the relationships and earn the respect of top coaches to be able to be invited to their tournaments.”

The final event of the fall takes place in Cabo, Mexico for the TCU Battle at the Beach, a three-day event from Friday, Oct. 28 through Sunday, Oct. 30.

“I like the spacing of our tournaments. This fall we have about two weeks in between each event, which will allow us to come back and work on what we need to regroup and go to the next event,” Shelton said.

The team comes back in the spring on Friday, Feb. 17 through Sunday, Feb. 19 at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational in Lake Oconee, Georgia.

Next, the team travels to Wallace, North Carolina for the River Landing Classic on Monday, March 13, and Tuesday, March 14.

With a quick turnaround, the Bucs head to the biggest event of the spring season, the Florida State Match Up in Tallahassee, taking place from Friday, March 17 through Sunday, March 19.

The final event before the SoCon Championship will be the Chattanooga Classic, which will be held on Sunday, April 2 through Tuesday, April 4 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

In addition, the team welcomed three new women this semester. The new team members include freshmen Madeline Simcox (Bristol, Tennessee) and Charlotte Roodenburg (Netherlands), as well as junior Amber Thornton (Canberra, Australia), a transfer from the University of Albany.

“I’m looking forward to having these opportunities and seeing the new girls. We have a couple opportunities where every girl in our team will be able to travel to the events and play,” Shelton said.
