On Aug. 30, ETSU announced that rapper Yung Gravy would headline the Fall 2022 SGA concert.
The concert will take place Oct. 15 in Freedom Hall Civic Center.
This announcement comes months after voting opened up for students to decide on who they wanted to bring to campus this year, voting among three categories: pop, hip-hop and comedy.
Yung Gravy, who is formally known by his real name as Matthew Hauri, has skyrocketed in success with his viral hit “Betty (Get Money).” The song samples Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” and has stayed trending through TikTok.
His music catalog extends further back than his recent hit, though. Yung Gravy’s first single, “Mr. Clean,” was certified platinum with 1 million units sold back in 2016. He’s also seen success with his singles “Whip a Tesla,” “Oops!” and “Welcome to Chili’s.” He has collaborated with artists such as bbno$, T-Pain, Juicy J and Lil Baby.
Yung Gravy kicks off his “Baby Gravy, The Tour” on Nov. 3 in Illinois. He will visit Johnson City three weeks before he makes a stop in central Tennessee at Marathon Music Works in Nashville.
Supporting acts for the concert include Peach Tree Rascals and Lisa Heller. Peach Tree Rascals is known for their TikTok hit “Mariposa,” while Lisa Heller saw success on TikTok as well with her song “red flags.”
Ticketing information for the SGA Fall Concert will be added to the SGA’s concert web page at etsu.edu/concerts as it becomes available. For further information about the event, contact the SGA office by calling (423) 439-8337.
