In the height of summer temperatures, long walks to class and an increasingly large number of students on campus, the BucShot operates as a medium for student convenience by providing transportation to classes and neighboring apartment complexes.
Operating in coordination with Johnson City Transit, the BucShot provides students with the convenience of commuting to their classes without having to search for a parking spot, deal with long walks; it essentially cuts down on hassle in all cases.
The BucShot is completely free for all students, faculty and staff with loops through campus every fifteen minutes and is even open for visitors to ETSU to cut down on transportation time.
With three separate routes that circle the campus area of Johnson City, students from every corner of the area are sure to gain access to the ease of transportation that the BucShot provides.
The first daytime route, the BucShot Gold Route, makes a fifteen-minute loop around the east side of campus, including the Buc Ridge apartment complex. Gold route operates from 7:30 a.m. through 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
On the west side of campus, the Blue Route makes stops at Student Quarters apartments and parking lot 22A (near the intramural fields and the Summers-Taylor Soccer Stadium), operating from 7:45 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
On its final route, the Red Route, the BucShot makes a thirty-minute loop beginning at the ETSU West Walnut Street parking lot and runs through campus to the VA stop at Stanton-Gerber Hall, operating from 7:45 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Student Quarters resident and ETSU sophomore William Prokop said, “The BusShot is incredibly convenient for me, as I’m a student athlete without a car and need a convenient way to get to practice and classes on time.”
After dealing with a semester of bumming rides from classmates and walking long distances daily, Prokop said, “Having a convenient and free way to get across campus is a game changer, and I wish I would have utilized the BucShot and its benefits sooner.”
With the inclusion of all possible stops on campus, the BucShot provides a text service to notify the driver that you are waiting at a specific stop.
There are a number of stops across campus, and a map of each BucShot bus stop and a live, detailed map of each route can be found on the Johnson City Transit website at www.johnsoncitytransit.org.
