ETSU alumnus, Ric Keller, recently published his book “Chase the Bears,” which pays homage to his college days and the advice he wants to give to current students on their journey to success.
“Chase the Bears” is about becoming the best version of yourself by using your gifts, and taking chances that are aligned with your purpose,” said Keller.
“Chase the Bears” focuses on inspiring readers with stories of success and guiding them through how to make their own dreams a reality. Keller, who was the first ETSU graduate to be elected into Congress, is now an attorney, author, speaker and television commentator.
“Now that I’m older, I don’t really have the desires to get the trophies for myself. My biggest desire is to help other people get their trophies, and I thought it would be so cool if I could write a book that would help [them],” Keller said.
He wrote the book in a step-by-step, ‘how to’ style with a target demographic of college students and recent graduates. The book establishes five things that Keller wished he had known in his college years and five things that you can do to achieve your dreams. These five things include: using your gifts, trusting your intuition, taking a chance, realizing that you can fail and still win and not taking yourself too seriously.
The introduction to “Chase the Bears” states, “I hope you use your gifts, trust your instincts, and take educated risks to achieve your dreams… I’ll tell you how to apply secret techniques to convert your thoughts and dreams into reality. This book tells you where to turn, what to do, and how to do it.”
Keller will be coming to campus on Oct. 21 to hand out copies of “Chase the Bears.” He looks forward to speaking with students and signing their books.
