On Oct. 25 from 6 to 8 p.m., the Pride Center will hold a silent disco event. The event will be held in the ballroom located inside the D.P Culp Center on the third floor and will be open for all students and staff to join in and dance.
Wanting to end LGBT History Month on a fun note, Bethanie Dye, new coordinator for the Pride Center and past SAGA advisor, put together this event to help students come together and celebrate as a community. Upholding ETSU’s message of love and acceptance, members and allies are encouraged to stop by and celebrate to show their support while having a good time.
With experience as an undergraduate attending ETSU in the past, Dye explained how they attended a silent disco while in school and therefore was excited to be able to hold one for their community. Speaking on the club’s past events, they explain how this one stands out from the rest.
“We’ve had a lot of fun and educational events this October for history month, so we’re going to end it with a big fun experience so you all could get together with your community and maybe members of the community you haven’t met yet,” Dye said.
Providing new opportunities for ETSU students to connect, Dye looks forward to seeing students unwind and relax after a hectic month and is grateful they can prepare such an event where students can be themselves. Dye wants to show students they are constantly surrounded by appreciation not only from their peers but also from their school.
“You can say a lot, you want students to feel at home, you want ETSU to be their home,” Dye said. “But here is an example of them putting the effort into the message.”
Dye stated they will work with the same company they worked with for the PREVIEW silent disco and will look similar.
