With homecoming week coming to a close and homecoming weekend starting up, Party Bucs hosted a “Boogie in the Brooks.”

This little Friday dance kicked off the weekend. Students were able to come out in their grooviest outfits and dance the night away.

Students’ fashion ranged from colorful and bright neon dresses, to jackets and leggings. Some had disco ball earrings, groovy headbands and even wigs.

Caelan Peterson, the founder and staff advisor of Party Bucs stated, “‘Boogie in Brooks’ was designed to bring a fun, 70’s themed, homecoming dance to the students of ETSU, while using the platform to speak on mental health awareness.”

Homecoming week provides students with other opportunities to be included, outside of the regular competitions, and this was an example of that opportunity.

“The setting of Brooks Gym was decided upon to capture that old school, authentic, 70’s formal or dance,” said Peterson. “We brought in a real disco ball too.”

Using Brooks Gym for the event was not only important for the theme, but for the campus community at the event.

Around 500 students attended “Boogie in the Brooks.”

“Students were able to come out to a completely free, completely planned, themed dance party. All designed by students, for students,” Peterson mentioned.
