Lydia Copeland Gwyn, Sherrod Library Student Engagement & Instruction Coordinator, found a way to combine her love of Halloween and fall leaves into this vintage look.

“I usually pick out my outfit the night before because I have two kids to get ready for school,” said Gwyn, who has worked at a fashion library in New York City. “I wear a lot of vintage pieces. I do a lot of thrift store shopping. I got this at a Salvation Army. It was like $5. It’s a handmade dress. It’s the thickest polyester you could ever imagine. I always feel good in something vintage.”

Fall is Gwyn’s favorite season, and her birthday is in October.

“Anytime the air gets crisp and the leaves start changing, I’m going to start wearing maroon tights, brown, orange and yellows or as many fall colors as I can.”

Gwyn’s biggest inspiration has been her Nana, who she describes as a fashion maven. Gwyn offers this advice for those who are still homing in on a personal style.

“Look for things that you like in the world around you, and make it your own thing,” Gwyn said. “Don’t worry about what people think.”

BucStyle has a special meaning for Gwyn.

“ETSU, I would say, is eclectic,” Gwyn said. “I see a lot of students who are just having so much fun with their fashion.”

For this week’s column, Gwyn was nominated by the ETSU Fashion Marketing and Merchandising Department.
